Carrera Gioia White 1939 Emerson Model CY269 AM Shortwave Vacuum Tube Radio Sounds Marvelous!

DESCRIPTION: Resplendent with golden age of radio deco flair! Made of white Plaskon an early predecessor of modern day plastics. Plaskon has a tendency to crack due to its hard brittle inflexible nature. Repeated warming and cooling cycles causes hairline cracks like with natural stone! The result is a plastic that looks like old marble! The cracks do not continue all the way through the thickness of the cabinet in some areas, while they do in others. The cabinet is structurally intact. Weaker cracked areas have been filled with epoxy.  The cabinet will not break and shatter with normal use. Beautiful AM Tabletop vacuum tube clock radio manufactured by Emerson in the 1939 time frame still in excellent+ working  condition. This radio has a nice old mansion style. Heat and temperature cracks throughout. No chips, or major scratches! All knobs, dial pointer, etc are original, working, and securely attached. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial with external wire antenna. I was not only able to pick up any shortwave stations but that could be because of the time of day and/or location when I tried. Push buttons work. Original cabinet of this antique radio is in semi-glossy condition. This radio is over 80 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. Look at the neat Art Deco-ish type font! No missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. No smudges or yellowing. The tuning dial clear cover is original, securely attached, no cracks, some waviness, and yellowed with age. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. Dial light lights brightly. Backing board is missing. Most examples from this series have thick cardboard backing boards that go missing over the years. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
