DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM and shortwave radio manufactured by RCA from 1936 in excellent working condition.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original hand crafted curved wood. The finish is factory original. No cracks, chips or major scratches or missing pieces in wood construction. No chipped or missing veneer along edges and corners. Not repainted, no touch up, no over spray. There is finish age checking throughout like an old piece of furniture. Clear original tuning plastic window is not cracked, no chips, yellowed with age. Bevel edge gold highlight paint is faded with age but not flaking or greening.
WORKING CONDITION: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial with external antenna attachment which is included. SHortwave reception was weak or non-existent.
LOGO: No missing logos.
KNOBS: Replacement matching knobs are in excellent condition no cracks no chips securely attached.
LETTERING: Some missing, smudged, or faded dial numbering. The tuning dial works fine.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works and lights brightly. Switches from lighted standard broadcast on the upper portion of the dial to lighted shortwave bottom portion of of the dial. Neat!
SOUND QUALITY: There is slight hum in between string stations. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of tolerance paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
BACKING BOARD: Factory original wood backing board is in excellent condition.
POWER CORD: The brand new power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
FACTORY LABEL: No missing factory labels.
