Wood Tombstone 1936 Sentinel Model Unknown AM Shortwave Vacuum Tube Radio Excellent Condition!
DESCRIPTION: Mini wood tombstone vacuum tube AM shortwave radio probably manufactured by Sentinel (not quite sure) in 1936-38 timeframe in excellent condition. Original factory wood cabinet is intact and excellent condition. Peeled veneer on lower front right and front center underneath tuning dial have been repaired. Cracked veneer on right side has been filled and repaired. Few other small veneer cracks on the bottom edges. No other cracks or peeling veneer. Entire cabinet has been refinished with many layers of satin clear coat for longevity. Not lightly clear coated with wood grain exposed. No finish chips or major scratches anywhere on cabinet. Thick even coat of low gloss finish. No abrasions no discoloration no stains. Grill cloth is original no rips no stains no runs no smells. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial with external antenna attached. Shortwave doesn't seem to work. All knobs are original and securely attached. All original factory escutcheon. Dial light lights up brightly. This radio is over 80 years old! No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. The tuning dial works fine but slips in spots requires dutiful turning of tuning dial but doesn't get stuck. The replacement power cable and safety polarized plug is securely attached. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. Backing board is missing or maybe it never came with one. Bottom factory labels intact and legible. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
