WILD LOOKING MAROON FOOTBALL Retro Deco Modernist 1950 Sparton Model 132 AM Tube Radio Excellent Condition!

DESCRIPTION: This is a rare and prescient design by the folks at Sparton. Looks current even by today's standards, but must have seemed bizarre and out of this world in 1950 when it was introduced. I like it better than the Zenith racetrack radio. Tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by the venerable Sparton company in early fifties in excellent to mint condition. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial. This radio is louder than most and clear as a bell. Cabinet is original condition top and sides in original factory molded maroon plastic. No abrasions on top front or sides. Miracle, considering the thin unsupported expanse of top plastic. There is a hairline crack beginning on top by the back edge. There is a cigarette burn on the front edge above the volume knob. There is a crack on the bottom center starting from the back that has been repaired and stabilized. There is a crack on the right side starting from the back. No repaints. No repaints, touch-ups or oversprays. None needed. The only design of its kind. Original black metal grill is in excellent condition. The little plastic volume and tone covers are in very good condition with no broken tabs, cracks, warping, or rub off lettering. This radio is over 65 years old! The tuning dial works fine. Original power cable is securely attached no breaks, splits, or exposed wiring. Numerous surface scratches on the bottom but no cracks, chips, or missing material not even by the screw holes. Original backing board in good condition. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets.
