DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Medallion in 1959-60 time frame in excellent+ working condition. Cabinet is original aquamarine color. There was a chip on the top right corner that has been repaired and repainted. Never seen, never heard of manufacturer Medallion. In all my years of collecting, I have never seen another Medallion radio of any design. No mention of this manufacturer anywhere on Radio Attic Archives or Radiomuseum. Looks like a re-labled Arvin Model 5583 which is rare in itself. Medallion company must have contracted Arvin during the late fifties or early sixties to sell a few of these as their own. Knobs are original and securely attached. The handle is built into the back of dial display. Very functional. This radio is one of the better ones for listening purposes. This radio is over 55 years old! No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. Clock has large legible numbering. The tuning dial works fine. No dial light. Not designed with one. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The thicker power cable is securely attached and excellent condition. No fatigue by the interconnect. No exposed wiring. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets. When this radio was new, tailfins were all the rage!
