DESCRIPTION: For brief period in the late fifties between 1956 and 1959, Madison Ave had a fascination with this quaint motif to signify a well bred life while having a British Isles rustic charm. The pattern adorned Thermos, Coleman camp gear, picnic baskets and table cloths. The imagery still resonates because the design has been reissued over the years. As well, there is a subphylum of vintage camping gear aficionados who go crazy for this look. This radio would be the creme de la creme in that collection because it's so exceedingly rare! Love it or hate it, you won't forget it! Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Westinghouse in late 1950's in excellent+ working condition. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. Cabinet is in excellent condition in molded grey plastic still glossy with mirror shine. Not repainted not buffed. No cracks, splits, seams, or missing material. The tartan pattern is painted on metal screen grill not a fabric covering. This radio is over 50 years old! All the dial numbers are crisp and clear. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. Original tuning knobs are red with gold metal inserts. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. The red volume knob is original and nice. The power cable is in good condition and securely attached. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets. This thing belongs in a museum!
