Tyrol Blue Metallic Mid Century 1961 Philco Model K821-124 Tube AM Radio Sounds Great Real Looker!

DESCRIPTION: RARE tabletop tube AM radio alarm manufactured by Philco in 1961 timeframe in excellent+ working condition. Factory painted metallic blue grill! Nowadays metallic paint is ubiquitous but in the early 60s it was expensive. To find this paint on a radio is uncommon. This color reminds me of a 1966-67 Pontiac GTO in Tyrol Blue Metallic. The other thing worthy of note, the metallic blue paint used originally at the Philco factory is oil based versus water based so the color is vivid, unfaded and not as easily chipped over the years. Nowadays, oil based metallic paints are used far less frequently because of its impact on the environment. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. The radios of this period mimic cars with contrasting colors, oblique angles, and metal trim. This radio was cared for and maintained throughout its life. This radio is in excellent condition with no cracks, splits, or missing plastic. No modifications, repaints, or repairs to cabinet. None needed. Slight damage to the radio dial as it was printed on paper. This radio is over 50 years old!  No missing labels. The knobs are in good condition with no missing gold center caps! The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. No dial light. Not designed with one. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. Backing board is in good condition with crisp square corners. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
