Burgundy Swirl Marble 1956 General Electric Model 870 Musaphonic Vacuum Tube Radio Big Sounding!

DESCRIPTION: This is one loud and clear sounding beast. Larger than most designs because of its 6" speaker. The speaker is much larger than the rest of the radio. It has its own raised section to contain it! Usually, these larger plastic GE Musaphonics are cracked or chipped but not this one. Vintage 1956 tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by GE in excellent+ working and physical condition. No cracks, chips, or major scratches. Original factory molded burgundy swirl color. Not repainted. No over spray no touch up. None needed. This radio picks up AM stations real clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. The working dial light rotates with the tuning indicator and lights up from behind as you tune your stations. Neat! The knobs of this vintage tube radio are original and in excellent condition. The knob functions are interesting and unusual on this design. The middle tone knob pulls out to power on. The left knob has a center click to turn radio louder clockwise and phono louder when you turn counter clockwise. The front grill is in excellent condition without cracks or scratches which is surprising since the plastic mesh is so fragile. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. Original power cord and plug has no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. Original backing board is securely mounted with crisp square edges. Bottom factory labels have seen better days but some of it is still there. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
