DESCRIPTION:  One of the few always-on illuminated clock displays from the era.  Sylvania's technology was called "Panelescent" display and used phosphorescent glow technology. Unfortunately, most surviving examples with Panelescent clock displays have stopped working because the phosphorescent coating on the clock faces crack or stop glowing. This clock radio Panelescent display still works! It glows an eerie greenish color visible in the dark. The dimmer knob in back works and adjusts glow level. How cool! Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Sylvania in 1955 in excellent working and physical condition. No cracks, no chips, and no major scratches. Original factory molded colors. No repaint no over spray no touch up or exterior repairs. None needed. Knobs are original and securely attached. All three matching original clock knobs not missing. Amazing. This radio is over 60 years old! No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial or clock lettering. The 'Sylvania' raised gold painted logo is not rubbed off. The The tuning dial works fine. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. Original backing board is intact securely attached with crisp square corners. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
