Flying Wedge Post War Vintage 1949 Philco Transitone Model 49-506 AM Radio Sounds Great Hardwood Cabinet!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop model vintage wood tube radio manufactured by Philco in the 1949 time frame still in excellent physical and working condition. The original knobs are matching brown plastic and are securely attached. No chips, splits, abrasions, or missing material anywhere on the cabinet! This vintage radio is original factory wood construction with a plastic grill. All original knobs, dial pointer, etc are present, working, not missing. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without external antenna attachment. Excellent post war mid century design! This radio is 70 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. Clear tuning dial window plastic is original with no hazing no warping or yellowing and no cracks. Dial lights up brightly. No missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. No smudges or yellowing. The tuning and volume dials work fine. No slipping. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. The original bottom label is mostly intact. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The new replacement power cord and polarized plug is in perfect working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. Backing board is intact mostly there missing upper left corner. 9 out of 10 of these old Philco have missing backing boards. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
