DESCRIPTION: Vintage wood tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Crosley in 1947 timeframe. Has a large commanding presence both sonically and physically! This was a very expensive radio to buy back in its day! Like the Bentley of radios. Picks up AM and shortwave stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without external antenna attachment. Receives shortwave stations better with a long hank of wire. Any kind of wire will do. Wood cabinet is in excellent structural condition. No cracks, no splits, no reglue. Not needed. No non-original internal repair blocks to hold things together. None needed. No cracks, dents, or dings. No peeling veneer. No veneer repairs. None needed. Original grill cloth is in excellent condition is clean with no rips, fraying, or missing material. Original huge front dial window is clear. No cracks. Some warping. Couple dents and divots. No yellowing. The tuning dial with broadcast and shortwave scale is pretty. No smudges, no flaking, no rub off lettering or numbering. No pitting no rust. Original knobs are in excellent condition and securely attached. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. The tuning pointer is in excellent condition. Tuning dial lights work and light brightly! Side little brass flowery screws are all original nicely bronzed with age. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. Speaker is original no punctures no rips. Sound is loud and voluminous. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. Backing board is missing or maybe there never was one. The replacement power cord and polarized plug are new and in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. Missing bottom factory label or maybe it never had any. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
