Laguna Aqua Mid Century 1958 Packard Bell Model 6RC1 AM Vacuum Tube Clock Radio Rare Looks Works Great!
DESCRIPTION: Here's one you don't see very often, a Packard Bell clock radio. In this color combination and condition, this surviving example can be considered an anomaly. If you just look at the boxy somewhat conservative exterior design, you would miss all the treasures within. This clock radio has a lot of expensive engineering under the hood. It is a 6 tube circuit so it is a sensitive tuner and strong receiver. It is a full metal chassis for reliability. It has two - count them - two dial light functions. The radio dial light turns on which is found on many designs from this era. There is a second clock display light that comes on when you pull the volume knob outward! Never seen that before. It also is a dual speaker clock radio! The speakers are two 2.5" diameter speakers which sound surprisingly good. Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Packard Bell in 1958 excellent working and physical condition. Cabinet is original factory molded aqua green color with factory painted white grill. A small chip is visible from the top, it is located on the back top edge, on the right hand side. The knobs are gold colored metal replacements and securely attached. The little black clock knobs are replacements securely attached. Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no grinding no ticking noises. CLock and alarm set functions work. Alarm buzzer works. Sleep timer works. The clock clear face has numerous small dings but no cracks no major scratches no warping no yellowing. This radio is almost 60 years old! No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. The tuning dial works fine no slipping no sticky spots. The thicker than most white power cable is securely attached no fatiguing at base interconnect. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The power cord and plug is in excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
