Beautiful Sea Green Retro 1956 Motorola Model 56CS4A Vacuum Tube AM Clock Radio Rare Excellent Condition Sounds Great!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Motorola in 1956 excellent working and physical condition. Bi-level clock and radio design. Clock is uniquely cantilevered off to the left at a slightly higher level than the radio section. This is reminiscent of euro architecture and furniture designs from the late fifties and early sixties. Post-modernist proportions with bright period hues that bespeak of technological and economic optimism and American confidence. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. Cabinet is in excellent condition. Small heat crack just beginning to form on top center. A heat shield has been attached inside to prevent further heat cracking. Original molded urea plastic in sea green color. This radio is over 50 years old! Motorola label on front speaker grill is in excellent condition slight tarnishing. The knobs are in excellent condition. Please see the photo close-up. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on clock dial lettering. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The clock works and keep accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. The alarm works. The buzzer works. The clock and alarm set function work. The sleep function works. The clear clock cover has small crack by the sleep timer. No other cracks, scratches or haziness. There is a appliance timer function in back. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. Backing board is in very good condition with crisp square corners. Right top corner is broken off. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. This antique radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
