DESCRIPTION: Understated and elegant. Very popular design back in the mid fifties! Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by General Electric in the 1950's excellent working condition. Model number 573. Cabinet is original factory molded vanilla ivory color with attractive red clock face. The front metal fascia is in excellent condition with no rust, tarnish and little oxidation. No cracks on the top! But there are fine scratches throughout on the surface due to age but not abuse. No cracks, chips, repairs or missing material. No repaint or repairs. None needed. All original everything. There is a small melted patch on the lower left front corner. All knobs are original and securely attached. This radio is over 60 years old! The on off sleep little knobs are all present and working fine. The middle little clock switch is painted to match the other two. These little knobs almost always go missing after all these years. The tuning dial works fine. No dial light. Not designed with one. There are few scratches in the center of the clock clear cover. The power cable is securely attached yellowed but in good working condition. The original cord was stronger and better quality than most. The power cord is not cracked or split or with exposed wiring. Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is quiet no humming buzzing or grinding sounds. Alarm works. Clock and alarm set function work. Sleep function works. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment with no pets. When this radio was new, Eisenhower was US President!
