DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube radio manufactured by Stromberg Carlson in the 1949 timeframe still in excellent+ working condition. This radio is a RARE bordeaux red Bakelite! Most of these models were brown or white. The front grill slats are perfect. All knobs, dial pointer, etc are original and securely attached. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without external antenna attachment. Excellent art deco design! Original red bordeaux bakelite cabinet is mirror-like glossy condition. Dial light lights up brightly! There is a repaired crack that starts at the bottom right back edge and continues approximately half way across the width of the cabinet. No other cracks, chips, or major scratches. The knobs are original matching dark brown or black bakelite securely attached. This radio is over 60 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. The numbering by the "60 70 80 khz" is a bit faded. Look at the perfect Art Deco-ish type logo font! No cracks, smudges or yellowing on concave clear dial face. The back panel is in excellent condition. The tuning and volume dials work fine. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The replacement power cord and plug is in good working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets. When this radio was new, Harry S Truman was president! This thing belongs in a museum!
