Cabernet Red Golden Age Art Deco 1948 Continental Model 1600 AM Vacuum Tube Clock Radio Sounds Dreamy! Glamorous Looks!
DESCRIPTION: This is one of the classiest looking clock radios ever made. If radios had movie personas, this one is Humphrey Bogart or Audrey Hepburn. So debonair so cosmopolitan. The contours and ergonomics couldn't be more resonant and graceful. Set your alarm and wake up in Casablanca! AM tabletop tube clock radio manufactured by Continental in the 1948 time frame still in excellent plus working and physical condition. This radio has a very golden age of radio look. No chips or major scratches. Thin hairline heat crack on top. No other cracks. No repaints no other modifications of any kind. All original factory molded colors and markings paint. All knobs, dial pointer, etc are present, working, not missing. Usually the volume knob is cracked and replaced with non-original. This one is original and matching. Yay! The tuning and volume dials work fine. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. Excellent art deco design! Original cabernet red plastic cabinet is flawless mirror-like glossy condition and matches deep reddish burgundy color of a fine cabernet. The volume and tuning knobs are original matching matching cabernet red plastic securely attached. Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock is quiet no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm works, Alarm set works. Clock set works. All three little gold metal clock knobs are original. Nice touch. Clock gold metal trim is oxidized and tarnished with age not rusted. Clock glass convex cover is clear with no cracks no chips. No clock or dial light. Not designed with one. But one can be added for an extra charge. This radio is over 70 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. Look at the neat Art Deco-ish type font! No missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. The "Continental" painted gold logo is not rubbed off or flaking. No smudges or yellowing. The flimsy back panel is good usable shape. Usually these are tattered or missing because they were originally made of thin cardboard. Hey, it's amazing it's still there! All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The replacement power cord and plug is in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. No exposed wiring. No missing factory labels. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
