DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Motorola in 1953 in mint condition. This radio is affectionately named the 'dashboard' model. A collectors favorite. Red is most sought after color. All original factory painted red Bakeilte. No modifications, repairs, or repaints. No oversprays or touchups. None needed. Typically, this model shows its wear and tear with paint loss on the upper front corners. This one has just a pin prick of paint loss on the upper front corner and another pin prick below the tuning knob but nowhere else! How can that be? Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. Cabinet is in mint condition. No cracks, chips, scratches, dents, or dings on the cabinet. This radio is over 60 years old! White metal mesh grill is in excellent original condition with no dents, dings, rust, or warping. No repaints touchups or oversprays. None needed. Usually, the white painted metal grill suffers from paint flaking or corrosion over the years. Not this one! Also, there is usually a shadow of the oval speaker seen through the pin holes of the metal grill. Again, not this one! It's as if the radio was stored in a hermetic sealed chamber for the past 64 years! Motorola label on front speaker grill is in excellent condition. The knobs are in excellent condition. Bright red with no discoloration or fading. The gold metal inserts are original excellent condition and not tarnished. Please see the photo close-up. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on tuning dial lettering. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. Surprisingly, this model was not design with a tuning dial light. Seems like it should have. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. Backing board is in excellent condition with crisp square corners. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The power cord base is strong and un-fatigued. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets. This thing belongs in a museum!
