DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube radio manufactured for Cromwell in New Zealand in 1950. In excellent+ working condition. Made by Stark Sound Engineering Co. This radio is very rare, Stark only made two radio models. Most of these models were brown or white. The front grill slats are perfect. However, there is a crack across the left side to the front of the radio. All knobs, dial pointer, etc are original and securely attached. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without external antenna attachment. Excellent art deco design! Original cabinet is mirror-like glossy condition. No cracks, chips, or major scratches. The knobs are original matching Ivory bakelite securely attached. This radio is over 60 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. Look at the perfect Art Deco-ish type logo font! No cracks, smudges or yellowing on concave clear dial face. The back panel is in excellent condition. The tuning and volume dials work fine. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The original power cord and plug is in good working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. No exposed wiring. There is a water stain on the backing, made of industrial grade paperboard. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets. When this radio was new, Eisenhower was president! This thing belongs in a museum!
