DESCRIPTION: It doesn't get better than this! To say this radio is rare would be an understatement. Purple shades are the rarest colors to be offered in this era. Tabletop tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Motorola in 1957 excellent+ working condition. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. This radio is over 50 years old! No chips or major scratches. No heat cracks on top!. No external repairs or repaints. None needed. Strangely, there is small crescent shaped crack on the left side, like Marilyn Monroe's beauty mark! This is a factory original molded in lavender. It is not cornflower blue or grey. It is absolutely stunning to behold. When was the last time you felt such a thrill to check the clock and see what time it was? Not missing Motorola label on front speaker grill. The knobs are in excellent condition. The clear tuning knob surround is not cracked or yellowed. The clear dial face has no stress cracks. Please see the photo close-up. The silver metal front faschia is not scratched or dinged. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on clock dial lettering. The nice silver Motorola logo is pristine. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The clock works and keep accurate time for a mechanical analog design. The alarm works. The clock and alarm set function work. There is a appliance timer function in back. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The backing board is nice original and intact with crisp square edges. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. The power cord is a new replacement. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets. When this radio was new, tailfins were all the rage! This thing belongs in a museum!
