DESCRIPTION: Rare mid century design by the venerable once behemoth but soon to be extinct Sears Roebuck & Company. Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Sears Silvertone in the mid 60s in excellent condition. Cabinet is an original molded ivory plastic. The entire front section has yellowed evenly with age to a pastel yellow. The bottom unexposed section of the front grill section is slightly less yellow. Very mid-century looking and rare! No cracks, chips, or major scratches. The metal fachia has some oxidation on the bottom edges. There are some funny discoloration spots on the bottom that was very difficult to remove. This radio is over 50 years old! The tuning dial works fine no slipping. The radio dial light lights up brightly when the radio is turned on. The light does not stay lit if just the clock is running. The power cable is securely attached. The original cord was stronger and better quality than most. The power cord is in good working condition. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. The clock works and keeps accurate time. The clock motor is quiet no buzzing, cranking, or grinding noises. The clock set knob in back works. The sleep knob is missing. The on/off/alarm knob is not missing and securely attached. The alarm set knob works. The sleep function works. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment with no pets.
