DESCRIPTION: This radio has a loud and commanding sound quality. Would fill your library or sitting parlor with warm rich sounds of yesteryear! Just try and imagine the music and news that would have been playing through this radio when it was new! Beautiful solid wood construction tabletop tube radio manufactured by General Electric in 1942 in excellent+ working and physical condition. Sticker on back proudly exclaims "Made of Genuine American Walnut." Handcrafted wood cabinet solid and hefty. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without external antenna attachment. Excellent construction and design! Design looks like a jukebox. Solid wood curved on all sides. Few dings, scratches and dents from over the decades from normal wear and tear but no abuse. Not refinished. All original factory finish! Original varnish is still glossy condition some age checking. This cabinet is curvaceous. The sides are solid solid blocks of walnut. No missing chunks or pieces. No peeling veneers. No separated joints or repairs. No cracks, chips, or discoloration. The knobs are brown plastic securely attached. This radio is over 75 years old! Original factory dial glass numbering and lettering is 100% crisp and clear. Chrome metal faschia is beautiful shiny with minor pitting no rust. The tuning and volume dials work fine. The little red inner switch for high and low tone setting works. No slipping. The station preset buttons work. The unit powers on and off with a definitive click. Dial light works and lights brightly. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The brand new replacement power cord and plug with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. No exposed wiring. No missing factory labels on the bottom. Backing board is missing. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
