Raconteur Red 1953 Crosley Model JT-3 AM Tube Radio Swiss Cheese Grill, Not Cheesy At All!

DESCRIPTION: Leave it to Crosley to imagine this unforgettable design. Were it not for the swiss cheese grill, this boxy design would have disappeared from collective memory. This radio borders on whimsy in a landscape of radio designs that take themselves a little too seriously. Just goes to show, calculated risk taking is the only way to transcend obscurity. I can only imagine the concept as it was first pitched to a board of executives. The fact that these execs approved it says a lot about Crosley management. Testimony to the fact, Crosley is one of the only companies still around today and still making radios. See? Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Crosley in 1953 in excellent+ working condition. This radio has a devoted following. No cracks. No chips. No major scratches. Original factory color does shows paint loss throughout. I opted not to repaint for originality sake. The tuning knob is original. This antique has lost the original center metal insert on the knob. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. This radio is over 60 years old! There are no cracks on the top. Minimal missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. The tuning dial works fine. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
