DESCRIPTION: This is the radio you will turn on and actually listen to! Its inconspicuous and somewhat plain looks are overshadowed by the fact it gets FM! When this radio was new, there was no way they could have foreseen the evolution of broadcast content on AM and FM stations. AM/FM Tabletop tube radio manufactured by Emerson in the 1949-1950 timeframe still in excellent+ working condition. This radio has a very good audio sound quality for design that is over half a century old. No cracks, splits, abrasions, or missing material anywhere on the cabinet! All original molded Bakelite no repaints or repairs. All knobs, dial pointer, etc are present, working, not missing. Picks up AM and FM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without external antenna attachment. Excellent art deco design! Original brown marble swirly bakelite cabinet is flawless mirror-like glossy condition. The knobs are original matching brown bakelite securely attached. This radio is over 60 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. No missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. No smudges or yellowing. The back panel is in excellent condition. The tuning and volume dials work fine. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The original power cord and plug is in good working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets. When this radio was new, Harry S Truman was president! This thing belongs in a museum!
