Umber Brown Bakelite Vintage 1951 Philco Model 52-942 AM Radio Loud Clear Sounding! Sundial Inspired Tuning!
DESCRIPTION: Solidly built Bakelite with hefty proportions. Unique sundial inspired tuning display. Tabletop tube radio manufactured by Philco in the 1951 time frame in excellent+ working and physical condition. Loud and clear performer! Semi-circle dial lights up brightly. The original translucent knobs with gold metal inserts are securely attached. No cracks, chips, splits, abrasions, or missing material anywhere on the cabinet! This vintage radio is in the original factory molded brown Bakelite color. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without external antenna attachment. This radio is over 70 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. Clear dial plastic is original with no hazing or yellowing and no cracks. Two indentations of cord imprint due to long storage period. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. The original bottom label is missing. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The power cord and safety plug is a brand new replacement in perfect working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. Backing board is original, intact not missing. 9 out of 10 of these old Philco have missing backing boards. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
