DESCRIPTION: This is an iconic radio as seen on Leave It To Beaver series and "The Professional," with Jean Reno and Natalie Portman in her debut. This radio looks like it has been in a demolition derby because there are multiple cracks, minor chips, and scratches throughout the cabinet that have been repaired. Original molded cherry red and white cabinet. No repaints, over sprays, or touch up. Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by General Electric in 1950's passable working condition. Completely listenable if you're in the kitchen, workshop, or bedroom by yourself but it's not one I would pick to get the party started. Picks up stronger AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial if you adjust the radio or place it in a part of the house where reception is good. The front bezel is beautiful with no cracks, dents or dings but the graphics are worn and rubbed off due to age and normal use. Look at the cool atomic motif! So Sputnik! This radio is over 50 years old! Dial light works and lights up brightly. The General Electric label on the bottom edge is in excellent condition with no waves, rust, tarnish, rub-off, or peeling. Original knobs are clear with gold color inserts and securely attached. The tuning dial works fine and smooth and the dial plate rotates smoothly as you tune to a station. Nifty little retro feature! Replacement power cord is brand new and safely routed through the back with a modern stress relief bushing. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. Takes a little longer than most to warm up but sounds fine when it does. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets. When this radio was new, tailfins were all the rage! This thing belongs in a museum!
