Chalfonte Blue 1963 Motorola Model C35B Vacuum Tube AM Clock Radio Sounds Great! Cool Looking!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by Motorola in 1963 time frame in excellent working condition. Pretty light blue color back and white front color scheme. This vintage radio has an early sixties design look and clock.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations very clearly and very loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original factory molded sky blue turquoise back plastic. No cracks or major scratches. Some of the thin edges and corners have chipped over time. White front and sides. Front white grill inner crevices have some stains that are difficult to clean completely. Original factory molded colors through and through. Not repainted. No touch up no over spray. None needed. Clear clock cover is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or micro-inclusions and securely attached. Clock blue-ish anodized aluminum back is evenly discolored oxidized but not rusted. No fading of clock numbers. Tuning blue-ish aluminum panel is in excellenmt condition and securely attached.
KNOBS: Factory original plastic tuning and and volume knobs. The tuning numbers are clear and readable with gold paint rub off. Tuning knob has a beautiful gold metal cap. Volume on/off knob gold metal insert is intact.
LOGO: Has a great Motorola logo.
DIAL LIGHT: None. Not designed with one. But can be added for an extra charge.
CLOCK: Clock works and keep accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Clock and alarm set time works. Alarm works. Wake to radio and buzzer or wake to radio only. Both work. Sleep timer works. Top snooze button works.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformer (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static free performance. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Not backing board. Not designed with one. Factory matching blue plastic back cover is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or major scratches. No melted heat vents.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom labels are clear and legible
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, or pets.
