Chiffon Pink 1958 GE General Electric Model C-406A AM Vintage Vacuum Tube Radio Little Cutie in Excellent Condition!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by General Electric in the late 50s in excellent plus physical and working condition. Lovely little number in factory molded pink.
CABINET CONDITION: The cabinet is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or major scratches. Original factory molded pink plastic through and through. No repaint. No over spray. No touch up. This radio is over 60 years old! The "ON", "OFF", "RADIO" lettering is not totally worn off which is often the case. Nice crisp lettering on the sleep timer. The clock face is in excellent condition with no rust, pitting, or oxidation! The tuning dial works fine. No rub off numbers. Gold metal insert is not missing shiny no rust or tarnish.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CLOCK: Clock works and keeps accurate time. Clock motor is silent no humming no buzzing no ticking noises. Alarm works. Buzzer works. Wake to music or buzzer works. Sleep timer works. Clock time and alarm set time work.
KNOBS: All knobs are original and securely attached. The gold metal caps in the knobs are original not tarnished. Original little clock function knobs. Sleep time flap is chipped off but still works not slipping.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. Both Intermediate Frequency Transformers (IFTs) have been rebuilt to ensure static-free performance. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent condition with no cracks, or splits.
BACKING BOARD: Color matching pink back cover is original excellent condition. No cracks, no chips, no major scratches.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Not missing bottom factory labels readable, yellowed with age. These bottom labels are often missing on this model series.
PROVENANCE: Previous owner identity is not known. Was gently used then stored in a dry cool environment for a long period of time. No evidence of prolonged exposure to cigarette smoking, moisture, cooking grease, pets or carpet.
