Aquamarine Turquoise 1957 Philco H817-124 AM Vacuum Tube Radio Sleek Mid Century Looking Dual Speaker Sound!

DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Philco in the late 1950's in excellent working and physical condition.

CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is factory original molded in turquoise and white color plastic. This radio is in excellent condition with no chips or major scratches. Usually this model has a crack on top due to its wide unreinforced width. This one has just a thin hair line crack that contained in the top middle expanse and doesn't reach the edges. A Lexan reinforcement panel has been added on the underside to mitigate further cracking in the future. These old Jetsons styled radios in rare colors are becoming more and more collectible. This is a particularly rare design and in an extremely hard to find and desirable color combo. The front grill is in excellent condition. Not repainted, No overspray. No touch ups. None needed.

WORKING CONDITION: Picks up AM stations very clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment. This radio is one of the better ones for listening purposes because it's a dual speaker design. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The tuning dial works fine.

LOGO: No missing logos. Front gold metal logo trim plate is in excellent un-dented un-dinged condition but tarnished with age.

KNOBS:  Tuning knob is original and in excellent condition no broken attach posts. Volume knob is original missing gold metal center cap.

LETTERING: All lettering in excellent condition

DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works brightly. Illuminated behind the tuning wheel. Cool!

INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of tolerance paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.

BACKING BOARD: Original factory backing board is in excellent condition securely attached.

POWER CORD: The original power cord and plug are in excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.

FACTORY LABEL: Bottom label is mostly intact. Water stained.

DIMENSIONS: Approximately 12" x 7" x 6" (l x w x h)

WEIGHT: 4 lbs 5 oz

COLOR: aquamarine turquoise and white front. Can you name a more 50s looking color combo?
