Aqua Turquoise and White 1959 CBS Model 2160 AM Vacuum Tube Radio Cute As A Button Sounds Fantastic!

This antique radio was manufactured and marketed by CBS as Model 2160 in 1959 time frame following then recent acquisition of Trav-ler company. If you were to ask someone to describe a flamboyant whimsical 50s looking radio, this is the one. The only design of its kind from the 50s! Sought after and getting hard to find. CBS 2160 models were usually molded in black or white. Sometimes the grills are factory painted blue, pink or yellow. A wonderful vintage tabletop vacuum tube AM radio in excellent working and physical condition. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. The cabinet is original shiny white plastic. Not repainted, no touch up an no over spray. Absolutely stunning color combo! Original factory molded color through and through. No chips or major scratches. There is a hairline crack beginning on the top back edge and on the bottom. The front aqua turquoise grill is original factory paint. Not repainted, not touched up no overspray. These front painted grills usually have some paint chips, rub off or dings due to normal wear over the years but not this one. The iconic tri-star tuning knob is original and securely attached in excellent original condition some oxidation and greening to the bronze tri-star. This retro radio is almost 60 years old! No dial light. Not designed with one. Probably no reason to add a dial light. There are no smudges or rub-off on dial lettering. The tuning dial works fine. The brand new replacement power cable and safety power plug is securely attached and in excellent condition with no breaks, no cracks, no brittleness. No exposed wiring. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. Original backing board is in excellent condition with no breaks securely attached. Bottom factory label is missing. The vintage radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
