Artisan Crafted Wood 1941 Philco Model 42-PT-96 AM Radio Solid Hunk of Wood Cabinet Don't Mess Sounds Great!

DESCRIPTION: This radio was made back in the time before automated factories, computers, and robots. This radio was constructed lovingly by hand more or less using simple machines and tools in small factories. This radio wood cabinet is a serious piece of solid construction. Probably could run over with a truck and survive. Tabletop tube radio manufactured by Philco around the time of Pearl Harbor attack in excellent physical and working condition. Dial light lights up brightly. Original looking period correct grill fabric is intact no rips no stains but loosely fitted. No cracks or peeling veneer anywhere on the cabinet! No split seams or gaps. The original knobs are brown Bakelite securely attached. This vintage radio is in the original factory finished wood cabinet that is thin or worn through due to age throughout, like an old piece of furniture! Not repainted no touch up no over spray. All original knobs, dial pointer, etc are present, working, not missing and securely attached. Clear tuning window is a brand new acrylic replacement that is securely attached. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without external antenna needed. This radio is about 80 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. No flaking which is common. Philco manufacturer logo is missing. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. The original bottom label is mostly gone. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The power cord is a brand new replacement with safety polarized plug in perfect working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. Backing board is not missing. Miracle. Intact and securely attached. 9 out of 10 of these old Philcos have missing backing boards. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
