DESCRIPTION: Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by National Union in 1947 in excellent physical and working condition.
SOUND QUALITY: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is handcrafted solid wood construction. Made right after WWII ended. No cracks or chips or peeling veneer. Wood top is not heavily scratched or water stained. Top finish is not bare. No separating seams or veneers. Not refinished no touch up not over sprayed. All original factory colors and finish. Tuning glass is original no cracks no chips no flaking numbers. Green glass graphics is nice counterpoint contrast with wood and fabric colors. Original factory grill cloth. Minor stains and minimal fiber disintegration within. No loose or separated edges. Bottom rubber feet is a nice feature added and will not mar furniture.
KNOBS: The volume and tuning knobs are original matching and securely attached. Nice pinwheel design knobs.
LOGO: No missing logos or decals.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial light works and lights brightly.
CLOCK: no clock
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
POWER CORD: The replacement power cord and plug are in excellent working condition. No breaks, no splits, no repair with electrical tape, or other. No exposed wiring.
BACKING BOARD: Original backing board and securely mounted.
FACTORY LABELS AND STICKERS: Bottom factory label is intact.
