Artisan Handcrafted Wood 1939 RCA Model 9TX31 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Works Great! Excellent Plus Condition!

DESCRIPTION: Tabletop vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by RCA in in late 30s time frame in excellent working and physical condition. Hard to believe this radio is almost 85 years old!

CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original hand formed curved wood with decorative veneer along the bottom. No cracks, chips or major scratches or missing pieces. No peeling or chipped veneers. Separating bottom base has been reglued. Not repainted, no touch up, no over spray. Original factory finish throughout in in excellent plus condition. Original woven wicker style mesh grill is in excellent condition with no rips, fraying, or loose separated edges. Clear tuning original glass window is not cracked, no chips, no micro-inclusions, no flaking numbers and securely attached.

WORKING CONDITION: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial with attached external antenna attachment.

LOGO: No missing logos

KNOBS: The original tuning knob is in excellent condition no cracks no chips securely attached.

LETTERING: No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on tuning dial numbering. The tuning dial works fine no slipping or sticky spots.

DIAL LIGHT: No dial light. Not designed with one.

SOUND QUALITY: There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. 

INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of tolerance paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. 

BACKING BOARD: Factory original backing board is missing. Clear view of the vacuum tubes. 

POWER CORD: The new replacement power cord and plug are in excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.

FACTORY LABEL: No factory labels. 

PROVENANCE: Spent most of its life in rural midwest. Was part of collection of avid collector. See gallery article here
