RARE WOOD Retro Vintage Deco 1952 Philco Transitone 52-550 Tube AM Clock Radio WORKS!

DESCRIPTION: Tabletop Tube AM clock alarm radio manufactured by Philco in 1952 excellent working condition. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. Cabinet is in good condition with no cracks, splits, or seams, abrasions, major scratches or missing pieces. Structurally, the cabinet is solid with no seams no separated joints or split corners. The top has seen better days but it is structurally one piece, intact, not peeling, or bubbling but has varnish checking and flaking. The sides look shiny and deep and rich wood grain. It's hard for me to describe the wood grain but it looks reddish mahogany. The clock works smoothly and cleanly with no pervasive hum or buzzing. The on/of/alarm switch is working fine. Two of the three little brown knobs on the clock are still present and securely attached. The little white clock set center knob is still present and securely attached. The front bezel is original painted yellow wood with gold painted speaker slats. The clock and radio dials are a beautiful turquoise color. The gold metal surrounds are nicely aged with natural yellow patina. The dial face transparent bezels are clear not yellowed no cracks or hazing. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. The volume and tuning knobs are original both present and securely attached. The gold painted round disk feet and all present. The back panel is original and good condition. The dial light is new and lights brightly. The power cable is in a brand new replacement in new condition and securely attached. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets. When this radio was new, tailfins were all the rage! This thing belongs in a museum!
