DESCRIPTION: Early high end model from then sleeping giant Matsushita Electric Industrial aka Panasonic. Remember at this time Made in Japan was still not popular. However, there is evidence throughout this radio representing good design and manufacturing that American radio giants should have taken more seriously. AM and FM vacuum tube radio with hardwood cabinet of a unknown foreign species perhaps bamboo? Wood cabinets and vacuum tube circuitry with AM and FM are a rarity. Picks up AM and FM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need for external wire antenna. Original wood cabinet of this radio is in excellent condition. The wood cabinet is intact no cracks, no chips, no major scratches or discoloration no cigarette burns. Has been refinished to original color stain and sheen with several clear coats. Then lovingly wet sanded and polished to look as close to OEM new as possible. The original front grill fabric and metal surround trim are in very good condition no rips, no tears small runs in spots. Slight shadow of discoloration around speaker perimeter. Original factory 8" speaker sounds great! Some oxidation spots throughout on chrome metal trim. No scratches or cracks on clear tuning fascia. Small chip on the right edge just behind the wood edge. The volume and tuning knobs are original matching plastic securely attached with minor oxidation on metal center caps. AM FM Automatic Frequency Control (AFC) selector switch works. All knobs are intact not broken and securely attached. Tone on/off (!) works. Volume works. This radio is almost 60 years old! Tuning window dial markings are not faded. The unit powers on and off with a definite click. No dial light. Not designed with one. Front left top power light works glows light orange. But can be added for an extra charge. Original factory backing board is not missing. All original backing board screws. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The original power cord and plug are in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits or electrical tape repair. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
