Red White and Blue 1940 Emerson Patriot Model 400 Vacuum Tube AM Radio Works Great!
DESCRIPTION: Tabletop Catalin vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by Emerson in 1940.
CABINET CONDITION: Cabinet is original red Catalin. All original molded red factory color through and through. Not repainted. Not touched up not over sprayed. The factory original handle, grill, tuning window trim are in fair condition with cracks in original factory molded colors also not repainted, not touched up and not over sprayed. There are numerous repaired cracks throughout the bottom and right side of the radio. No cracks or chips on top or left side. A previous owner scratched the word "Burd" on top. The original tuning window has a hairline crack from the bottom edge. The blue and white slatted grill piece is in excellent condition with no missing slats securely attached. One of the handle stems was broken off at one point and repaired with internal strengthening screw which is not visible.
WORKING CONDITION: Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment.
LOGO: No missing logos
KNOBS: The white matching replacement tuning and volume on/off knobs are in excellent condition no cracks no chips securely attached. Tuning pointer rotates with ease, no slipping, no sticky or stuck spots.
LETTERING: No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on tuning dial numbering. The tuning dial works fine no slipping or sticky spots.
DIAL LIGHT: Dial lights works and lights brightly
CLOCK: No clock
SOUND QUALITY: There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications.
INTERNAL ELECTRONICS: All out of tolerance paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection.
BACKING BOARD: Factory original backing board is missing. The antenna loop is original and excellent working condition.
POWER CORD: The brand new replacement power cord and safety polarized plug are in excellent original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring.
