Elegant Light Dark Brown Pop Open 1948 Zenith Model 6G801 AM Vacuum Tube Portable AM Radio Excellent+ Condition Sounds Wonderful!
DESCRIPTION: Portable vacuum tube AM radio manufactured by Zenith in 1948 time-frame excellent working and physical condition. Original light and dark brown molded plastic cabinet. Original molded colors. Not repainted no touch up no over spray. No cracks, no chips, no major scratches which is rare to find on a portable. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly around the dial without need of external antenna attachment. Front doors and back wave magnet pop open when you press the little gold front button. Very cool. Top handle is intact but cane cording is broken in two windings. This radio is over 70 years old! The original brown knobs are in excellent condition and securely attached. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. The tuning dial works fine. No slipping no sticky spots. No dial light. Not designed with one but can be added for an extra charge. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! Tunes in loudly to stations with no humming or buzzing. The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. The internal wave antenna is original and works great! Picks up a lot of hard to receive stations. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern megahertz devices. The internal battery plug is intact. Runs on battery size no longer available. The power cord allows radio to be plugged into standard household outlet. Comes with original spare antenna cord that connects to auxiliary antenna with suction cups for even better reception. How cool. The original power cord and plug are in excellent working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. No missing factory labels. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean, professional environment.
