Gothic Style 1938 Wards Airline Model 62-476 AM Bakelite Tube Radio Totally Restored!

DESCRIPTION: This radio looks like it was designed by someone with turn of the century sensibilities (...that's 20th century!) It's flowery, dark and boxy. With its unblinking green tuning eye that is watching you. Look at the rotary telephone tuning dial! Tabletop tube radio manufactured by Wards Airline in the 1938 time frame in excellent+ working and cosmetic condition. This radio has a Victorian period look. No cracks, splits, abrasions, or missing material anywhere on the cabinet! No exterior repairs or repaints of any kind. Pretty amazing, the cheese cloth grill fabric is original, still intact with very few rips or missing material. That is hard to believe for a radio that is over 80 years old! The fabric is frayed in few places but is still looking good. Almost all surviving examples we've seen of this model series has missing or poor condition original grill fabric. All original knobs, telephone dial, etc are present, working, not missing. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial but requires an external antenna wire which was normal back in the early days. Very simple, attach any gauge wire to the little antenna wire out the back. Included. All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. No missing numbering, dots or dashes, or anything. The tuning and volume dials work fine. Amazing tuning eye that works and registers the strength of the received signal with green glowing light! Cool dude! The unit powers on and off with a definite click. All out of spec capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents.  The brand new replacement power cord and plug is in excellent working condition. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment.
