DESCRIPTION: Instantly memorable Capehart design featuring Scottish tartan plaid painted front metal grill! The plaid is not fabric covering. It is plaid painted metal grill. Go figure. A fifties micro-trend. Tabletop tube AM clock radio alarm manufactured by Capehart in mid 50's in excellent+ working condition. Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. This radio is in excellent working condition. No cracks, chips, or deep scratches. No cabinet repaints no repairs. None needed. Cabinet was original factory molded grey color that has yellowed evenly throughout front, top, sides, and even bottom to a pretty khaki green. The exterior was so evenly green, I was surprised to find only when examining the interior that the cabinet was not actually khaki green. The front metal plaid painted fascia is in very good condition. Knobs are original and securely attached. No missing factory labels or stickers. The Capehart logo is missing the "t." This radio is over 60 years old! No dial light. Not designed with one. All the dial numbering is crisp and clear. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. The tuning dial works fine. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The replacement power cord and plug are good original working condition with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. The backing board is a new replacement. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets.
