DESCRIPTION: In one of the unlikeliest marriages between two companies, Crosley and Avon got together in the late 40s to make radios!  Crosley was at its peak manufacturing radios, appliances, and even cars, so why not mate with Avon manufacturer of lifestyle products and cosmetics, to produce a line of radios aimed at jewelry stores! Oh-k. Gotta give Avon creds for picking the highest quality manufacturer though. To put things into perspective, try imaging this radio in a jewelry store back in the early 50s.  When your neighbors are buying radios at Montgomery Wards or Sears, you decide to buy your radio at Tiiffany, Harry Winston, Shreve & Co! Can you say over-indulgent? Dude not cheap. Tabletop tube AM radio manufactured by Crosley in 1950 in excellent working condition. This quality manufacturer is one of the only ones still around today and still making radios. This radio is class! No chips. Couple small divets and scratches. There is a stress crack on top emanating from the back edge. Original factory color glossy no chips, or abrasions. This is a clear Lucite cabinet that is painted silver internally at the factory to convey silver that is imbued from within. Ingenious. The knobs and dial pointer are solid metal. Very expensive high quality touch. No other manufacturer at the time paid attention to tactile impressions through use of materials. The filigree dial surround cements the radio shabby chic motif appeal. Dunya think? Picks up AM stations clearly and loudly up and down the dial without need of external antenna attachment. A rare model. This radio is almost 70 years old! No dial light. Not designed with one. No missing ink, smudges, or rub-off on dial lettering. The tuning dial works fine. All paper and wax capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and voltage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The power cord and plug is a new replacement with no cracks, or splits. No exposed wiring. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connection. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment no pets.
